Do this today. Think about someone you adore… and, whilst you picture them, smile! What is the first thing that comes to mind?
Was it their latest phone?
Was it their degree?
The way they pose so perfectly in every Instagram pic?
I’m guessing it was something quite ordinary. Their smile; the way they always have to steal something off your plate; the way they make you feel… basically, it was their own, ordinary self!
This is what makes us connect with others on a deeper level. It’s what makes us loveable. What we cherish and fall in love with. It’s what makes us special and irreplaceable. It’s something everyone of us has already.
Ordinary is our unique extraordinary.
Of course, that isn’t to say that quantifiable achievements shouldn’t be applauded, and aren’t important, but next time something doesn’t go quite the way you would’ve liked, or you feel like you haven’t achieved something at work or home, just for a moment, its worth thinking about.
